Biatain® Alginate is a highly absorbent alginate dressing designed for moderate to heavily exuding partial- to full-thickness wounds, particularly suited for cavity filling. It can be cut and shaped to fit wounds of varying sizes, shapes, and depths, conforming closely to the wound bed to support optimal healing.
On contact with exudate, the dressing forms a soft, cohesive gel that locks in fluid, helping to maintain a moist wound environment while minimising leakage and maceration. Its high structural integrity enables one-piece removal, reducing pain and trauma during dressing changes.
Biatain® Alginate also has a documented haemostatic effect due to the release of calcium ions, helping to control minor bleeding. It is available as a dressing or ribbon and is suitable for use under compression therapy, but should not be used on dry wounds or for heavy bleeding.
